Black and Blue
2 parts Pearl Blackberry Vodka
2 parts Fresh blackberry puree
1 part Sweet & Sour mix
2 splashes of fresh lemon juice
1 part triple sec


Shaken, not stirred - over ice - frozen blackberry garnish

Don't forget to light your outdoor spaces - light walkways, up light trees, add dimension and drama to your yard/garden

DRINK O' THE WEEK:

Miami Vice

2 parts Absolut Mango

1 part peach Schnapps

1 part cranberry juice

2 parts pineapple juice

Shaken, not stirred - over ice. Melon garnish

Use television and movies as design inspiration. Pay attention to the stage sets of your favorite shows and see what design ideas you can glean. Mad Men, Down with Love, Shakespeare in Love.......endless inspiration!

Yes, yes, yes, we have been remiss is putting up the tips...sorry!...and not to mention that I never did get around to doing a part II of Episode 11........SORRY! So busy.......

DRINK OF THE WEEK:

Lynchburg Lemonade

1 part Jack Daniels

2 part fresh squeezed lemonade

1 part triple sec

2 parts simple syrup

Stir like mad with a bunch of ice - garnish with a lemon slice

DESIGN TIP OF THE WEEK:

Don't hang your art to high - SO IMPORTANT!!!!!

Keep it connected to the pieces around it.....

I AM SUCH A SLACKER! Sorry! Much delayed but here are the Tips 'o the week:

DRINK OF THE WEEK:
Mango Margarita
1 1/2 oz. gold tequila
1 1/2 oz Triple Sec
1 oz. Sweet & Sour mix
1 oz. fresh lime juice
couple splashes of simple syrup

Shaken, not stirred. Do not salt the rim on this one. Add a slice of lime to garnish.

DESIGN TIP OF THE WEEK:
A quote from a designer friend of Sue:
"It's not world peace, it's decorating!"....meaning:
don't take it too seriously, have fun with it!

Things are a little wonky this week.....Sue and I flaked out in recording this together so I did this episode in my own garden courtyard and then my camera battery died 1/2 way through....many apologies - I will finish up tomorrow and post Episode 11, Part II tomorrow! thanks for your patience and have a great evening!

HELLO ALL! Here are the tips of last week - better late than never!

07/08/09 - DRINK OF THE WEEK:

The Bridget

1 oz. fresh squeezed lime juice
The muddled lime pieces from the fresh squeezed juice
1 1/2 oz. vodka
1 oz. agave nectar

put in cocktail shaker with ice and have at it. Pour in glass over ice and float 1/2 oz Harlequin (kinda like Grand Marnier) on the top. Enjoy!

drinks & tip of the week - episode 8

HELLO ALL! Here are the tips 'o' the week:

Drink of the week: Cointreau a-go-go.....

1 oz Cointreau

3/4 oz Cognac

1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

dash Angostura bitters

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add all the ingredients. Shake vigorously to blend.
Strain the mixture into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a thin lemon slice on the side of the glass. Variation: Replace the lemon juice with lime juice and prepare the glass with a sugar rim.

Tip of the week: Use magazines for design inspiration!

There are so many great design magazines...buy some and start tearing out the pages...perhaps you like a color, or a lamp, or a piece of art, or the whole room and you don't know why...tear it out and save it! Also pull out images of what you DON'T like - it is equally important to be able to identify your dislikes........

drink & design tip of the week -episode 7

Our drink this week is Sex on the Beach...here is the recipe:

1 1/2 oz vodka

1/2 oz peach schnapps

2 oz cranberry juice

2 oz orange juice

Add vodka and peach schnapps to a highball glass over ice. Fill with equal measures of cranberry juice and orange juice, and stir.

Our Design Tip of the Week this week is:

USE YOUR OUTDOOR SPACES LIKE YOU WOULD YOUR INDOOR SPACES!

Use it! Furnish it! Decorate it! Get out in it! YIPPEE!!!!

EPISODE 6-ish....

HELLO ALL! We are running a bit behind this evening - and I am going solo on this one tonight...Sue and I went out last night to record tonight's episode and we were just having so much fun sitting outside with other friends (and my darling husband) that we kinda forgot until it was waaaaaaay late and we were waaaaaaaay tired. Anyhoo.....I will be recording from a clients backyard tonight with images of her newly finished covered patio...you will also get to meet my weird friend Todd McAllister with On Stage...he is a total Rock Star! COCKTAIL RECIPES AND DESIGN TIPS OF THE PAST FEW WEEKS!

OK, OK...I have been quite remiss in posting our recipes and tips for the past few weeks - somehow it just seems to get away from me........SORRY!

So here they both are, which should bring us up to date!!!!! Enjoy!

COCKTAIL OF THE WEEK 06/03/2009 - NEON WATERMELON MARGARITA
1 1/4 oz. Silver Tequila. 1 oz. Midori. 1/2 oz. Daily’s Triple Sec. 1/2 cup frozen seedless watermelon cubes. Pour ingredients into blender and blend with a little ice. Pour into glass with sugared rim. Watermelon slice to garnish.

COCKTAIL OF THE WEEK 05/27/2009 - THE SCREWDRIVER AT MINT
4 oz. premium vodka
2 oz. Mandarin puree
Mix in cocktail shaker with a bit of ice – do not strain! Serve cold!
Does it get any easier than that?

COCKTAIL OF THE WEEK 05/20/2009 - THE RUBY FROM MINT
4 oz. beet infused vodka
1 oz. simple syrup
½ oz lemon juice
Put in a cocktail shaker with some ice and have at it – pour into a martini glass and enjoy!

DESIGN TIP OF THE WEEK - 06/03/2009
FOR GOD’S SAKE – change your light bulbs! Replace your yellow-ish incandescent bulbs with 30% more efficient halogens. You will get clearer, brighter light that everything looks good in – without the sickly glow of fluorescent!
